Holy Days fast approaching
|
Christmas is my favorite time of year and of course, Texas is my favorite place to spend the holiday. I created this site to share the joy of Christmas in Texas with families like yours. Along with a list of family activities and events throughout the state, I've included Christmas stories, holiday recipes, Christmas songs, crafts and a collection of articles to help you make the most of your time and money in your holiday planning. From time to time I also feature articles on Texas craftsmen, family traditions, and Texas celebrations, businesses that are unique to Texas. You'll want to so you don't miss the daily blog updates below to stay informed of holiday related news and events in Texas. I also continually update the Christmas stories, recipes, songs, crafts, holiday hints and articles--so check back often. And whatever else you do, appreciate one another and have a happy and safe holiday with your family. Lanore Dixon
Holy Days fast approaching
My main website has been down and I've not been able to update this site due to the same issue. I hope this is resolved quickly as it is after all the time of year where we experience the highest traffic.
Well, Madrigal has come and gone. According to my daughter it will be her last year in the play—she says she wants to graduate before she's ninety...I can appreciate that. So now we have 26 days to Christmas and I have to admit, I have done almost no shopping. Next weekend my daughter is coming down and we're going out to Sunset Hill Tree Farm to select our fresh Christmas tree. It's usually something we do as a family, but our other daughter has to be in San Antonio for a baby shower and we just couldn't find a place in our schedule when we would all be free to do it. Well, we'll have to make do without her. This is the way our economy runs these days: Families just don't get the luxury of being together for all their holiday traditions anymore. Our oldest daughter visited Ireland this summer for a writing class she is taking. She said most of the shops close around 5 pm so that people are actually home having dinner with their families in the evenings. Remember when that's how it was here in America? Family values is a nifty term, but it doesn't really seem to work in the same context as our economic values. Too bad. At any rate, Christmas is fast approaching and I'm trying to create some gifts with photographs. It's wonderful to have photo software that allows you to bleep out discordant items in photo backgrounds. I'm going to customize some picture frames suitable to the tastes of people on my Christmas list. I'll take some shots of these and post them on the craft page when I'm done. In the meantime, happy holidays, merry Christmas, happy Chanukah, happy Kwanzaa, joyful Yule to those who celebrate these holy days. If I missed your particular holy day, please let me know. I don't intend to annoy anyone or overlook anyone's holy days. Life used to be so simple...nowadays, even expressing good tidings can get you in trouble. We should all lighten up. Blessings, Lanore |
